DESCRIPTION:This unique program has been developed to provide foundational information about co-operatives and mutuals for your employees. \nDeveloped especially as an easy and affordable induction training for new employees\, this industry developed course is relevant for staff at all levels to ensure a consistent level of knowledge across the co-operative and mutual enterprise (CME) sector. \nIt is designed to ensure CME employers can provide an introductory overview of the business model and the CME sector to new and existing staff. \nThe key objective is to educate and to inspire people working in the sector to understand more about the unique role and contribution of co-operatives and mutuals to help them in their role in their CME\, whether frontline staff\, management or directors. In NSW\, there are 746 co-operatives and mutuals that contribute more than $12.27 billion in turnover to the State economy. \nThe BCCM Resilience Dinner celebrates the role of mutuals and co-operatives in supporting individual wellbeing. \nThe dinner is sponsored by EML\, a 109-year-old mutual insurer and the claims manager for the NSW Government’s iCare scheme. EML has been helping people recover from workplace injuries for over 100 years. EML\, Australia’s only work injury insurance mutual\, reinvests profits into programs and services that help make workplaces safer. Assisting people\, like ‘first responders’\, through programs that develop and support resilience\, is part of EML’s outstanding track record of helping people to get their lives back. \nMembers of the BCCM and guests of EML will meet for an evening of fine dining and inspiring conversation with Associate Professor Dr Munjed Al Muderis. \nGuest speaker\n \nProfessor Munjed Al Muderis \nProf Munjed Al Muderis is an Australian trained Orthopaedic Surgeon and a Squadron Leader in the Australian Air Force Reserve. Born in Baghdad\, Munjed had to flee Iraq as a young Doctor having refused the orders of Saddam Hussein to mutilate army deserters’ ears. Munjed endured a life threatening journey to Australia by boat. After spending 10 months in Curtin Detention Centre\, upon his release\, he embarked on a mission to become an Orthopaedic Surgeon. \nMunjed’s day-to-day work involves hip and knee arthroplasty and reconstructive surgery. He is a leading surgeon in the revolutionary technology known as Osseointegration. Munjed has helped hundreds of amputees world-wide (Iraq\, Cambodia\, Lebanon\, United Kingdom\, Canada\, Jordan\, Turkey\, Fiji\, Australia\, New Zealand and Netherlands) to improve mobility\, reduce pain and overall enhance their quality of life. \nMunjed teaches at Notre Dame and Macquarie Universities\, trains local and international surgeons\, registrars and medical students. \nApart from his academic and clinical roles\, Munjed is heavily involved in humanitarian work. Munjed is a Patron of the Asylum Seekers Centre\, Sanctuary Australia Foundation and the New South Wales Amputee Association. He is a Patron of the Australian Red Cross\, Amnesty International Australia and Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association. DESCRIPTION:Invitation only – BCCM member event \nThis meeting is part of a series of online meetings designed to provide a network of support for wherever you are on your Mutual Value Measurement© (MVM) journey. These collaborative meetings will aid CMEs to practically introduce and expand the use of the MVM Framework© within their organisation. \nDesigned for MVM users to share ideas and measures to help each other use the framework more effectively to promote reciprocity and best practice. SUMMARY:Co-operatives and Mutuals Strategic Development Program
DESCRIPTION:Co-operatives and Mutuals Strategic Development Program (CMSDP) is offered through AIM WA UWA Business School Executive Education. This three-day program has been designed by Winthrop Professor Tim Mazzarol following extensive research into the needs of co-operative and mutual organisations. Discounts are available for the BCCM’s members. \nThis face to face program is fully comprehensive and allows for a deep dive into the individual issues and opportunities that face participants and their organisations. \nThe program will focus on the sustainability\, performance\, and resilience of co-operative and mutual organisations. \nThe crucial need for the CMSDP\nWhile there are many general management and development programs on the market\, most do not meet the specific requirements of this sector\, which has acknowledged the need for a dedicated course which captures the unique nature of the co-operative enterprise business model. \nMany aspects of the way co-operative and mutual enterprises are managed are similar to more conventional businesses. However\, there are also many important differences. These relate to areas such as their governance\, distribution of share capital and voting rights\, human resources\, communications\, marketing and strategic purpose. \nLearning outcomes\n\n\n\nCompare and contrast the co-operative and mutual business model with that of investor-owned businesses\nExhibit knowledge of the co-operative and mutual business model as it exists locally\, nationally and internationally\nDemonstrate an ability to apply their understanding of co-operative and mutual enterprise business model dynamics to the solving of managerial problems\nEvaluate the impact\, and make strategic decisions in relation to:\n\ngovernment policies and legal environments\ncompetitive market dynamics\nsocial cooperation within their member community\, and\nthe impact of the natural environment\n\n\nUnderstand the nature of member loyalty and engagement within a co-operative and mutual enterprise and how to strengthen and retain member commitment.\n\n\n\n\n\nModules\n\n\nModule 1: Understanding Co-Operative and Mutual Business Models\n\nModule 2: Governance and Leadership in Member Owned Businesses\n\nModule 3: Marketing Our Co-Operative Advantage (MOCA)\n\nModule 4: Financing Co-Operative and Mutual Businesses\n\nModule 5: Legislative Structures and their Impact on Co-Operative and Mutual Enterprises\n\nAbout the presenter\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis program is facilitated by Professor Tim Mazzarol who is a world expert in the cooperative and mutual sector.
