In the first part of the roundtable\, you will join 30 BCCM member CEOs for a conversation about how AI can spur innovation and commercial success without breaching our trusted relationship with our member-owners’ data. Tim Trumper\, The NRMA President\, Quantium advisor and founding shareholder\, and author of the breakthrough book AI:Game On\, will facilitate this discussion. \nTim’s book is recommended for pre-reading and can be purchased through Amazon. \nThe second part of the roundtable is a discussion facilitated by Peter Hunt\, Managing Partner of Mutuo\, on harnessing industry-wide collaboration for strategic mutual advantage. Peter will use Mutual Value Measurement© (MVM) to stimulate a discussion around the tables about the purpose of modern mutuals and co-operatives and how we can use our differences strategically. \nYou can read about how UK mutual Newcastle Building Society refined its strategy using MVM. \nThe CEO Roundtable and Directors’ Dinner is a member-only BCCM event. DESCRIPTION:Mutual Mindset: An Introduction to Co-operatives and Mutuals\nDo you have new employees unfamiliar with co-operative and mutual structures and their purpose? Or do you have directors and executives looking to deepen their knowledge of the sector? This is a 2-hour online program designed to provide a general introduction to the co-ops and mutual industry in Australia and globally. \nThis course is suitable for anyone new to co-operatives and mutuals and those looking for a refresher and information on the live sector. It can be tailored to your existing induction training program\, or your employees can take one of our online classes throughout the year. \nIt is facilitated by well-known co-operative development expert Antony McMullen and includes live interaction and two guest speakers. \nWatch past guest speaker interviews. \nAbout this course\nThe key objective is to educate and inspire people working in the sector to understand more about the unique role and contribution of co-operatives and mutuals to help them in their role in their co-operative or mutual\, whether frontline staff\, management or directors. Knowledge is delivered in a fun and accessible format. \nBy undertaking the course\, your employees will learn: \n\nAbout the co-operative and mutual business model and how it is different to other kinds of business structures.\nAbout the purpose of co-ops and mutuals and how they are structured to benefit members.\nSome real examples of co-ops and mutuals through case studies.\nHow co-ops and mutuals are started here and around the world.\nWhy working for a co-op or mutual matters – in live conversations with two senior co-op or mutual business leaders.\n\nLearning outcomes\nUpon completing the course\, attendees will be able to demonstrate their understanding of: \n\nThe size\, scale and impact of the co-op and mutual sector in Australia.\nThe unique nature and fundamental concepts of co-operative and mutual businesses.\nSimilarities and differences from other business models\, including shareholder-owned businesses.\nThe origins and development of co-operatives and mutuals in Australia and overseas (including mutual ADIs\, Friendly Societies and agricultural and retail co-ops).\nThe seven global co-operative principles and the three mutual values.\nWhy co-operatives and mutuals matter to a sustainable economy and society.\n\n\nLength: 2 hours \nDelivery mode: Online \nProfessional development: 2 CPD points are awarded \n\nGuest speakers\n \nRobyn Donnelly\, Consultant\nRobyn has a background as a practising lawyer and academic at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst\, NSW. She held the position of Legal Manager for the NSW Registrar of Co-operatives and provided drafting instructions for the Co-operatives National Law. As a consultant she provided advisory services for new co-operative start-ups\, and authored the Community Investment Handbook for Australian Co-operatives. Robyn has provided strategic regulatory advice to the BCCM for over 10 years and led the development team for the Co-op Builder\, Australia’s only free drafting resource for new co-operative formations. Her later work for the BCCM was to draft the Capital Builder\, providing step by step guidance for co-operative fundraising as well as providing content for the  BCCM training courses on the BCCM Co-operative Farming website. She is continuing research on fundraising avenues and its regulatory constraints under Australian laws. \n  \n \nDavid Fraser\, Group Chief Executive Officer\, Capricorn Society\n\nDavid has over 38 years’ experience in the automotive industry and has held senior sales\, marketing and general management roles over the past two decades. Prior to his appointment as Capricorn’s Group Chief Executive Officer in July 2019 he was CEO of the co-operative’s Automotive Division from 2013. \nBefore joining Capricorn in 2006\, David was Group General Manager of Supply Direct\, a wholly owned subsidiary of ASX-listed Ausdrill\, and responsible for its operations in Australia\, United Kingdom\, South Africa and West Africa. He was also a former Associate Director and Group General Manager of ASX-listed Coventry Group Ltd and was responsible for the sales\, marketing and administration of the Group’s automotive businesses. He is a current Director of various Capricorn subsidiary Boards\, Councillor of the Co-operatives Federation of WA\, and a Director and current Chair of Western Australian Motor Industry Foundation.
