2022 BCCM Leaders' Summit

Triple threat or triple opportunity

Read the BCCM Leaders’ Summit wrap-up.

The BCCM Leaders’ Summit is Australia’s only cross-sector business summit for co-operative and mutual leaders. Held over two days – 17 and 18 November 2022, in Melbourne – featuring highly regarded international and national speakers in plenary sessions and interactive roundtable discussions.

We have developed a high-level program for executives and directors dealing head on with the need for a unified vision for growth for our sector and to help Australia address systemic risks to the economy through co-operation. This was the call to action recently tabled at the June CEO Summit on industry collaboration.

The theme of ‘triple threat or triple opportunity’ is a platform to debate three business trends – competition, conscious consumerism and consolidation.

Key speakers included:

  • Jeremy Duffield, Ex-CEO and Founder, Vanguard Australia
  • Enrique de los Rios, CEO, Unica Group (Spain)
  • Eric Balchunas, Senior ETF Analyst Bloomberg Intelligence and author of The Bogle Effect
  • Ana Aguirre, President, Youth Network, International Co-operative Alliance

Our popular CEO Dialogue breakouts addressed four ideas to take Australia forward:

  1. Food security and sustainable domestic agriculture
  2. A just transition to a greener economy
  3. Affordable housing for all Australians
  4. A sustainable and valued care workforce

These workshop-style discussions informed deliverable policy solutions for government to make real-world positive changes for Australians. The workshops were documented photographically and written-up so that your thought leadership and contributions were captured.

The Summit kicked off with the Taste of Australia Dinner and the BCCM Honour Roll Awards.

The Summit hosted the regular Chairs’ Forum luncheon on Thursday, 17 November at midday. For the first time, the Summit hosted an Agricultural co-operatives roundtable on Thursday, 17 November.

11:30 AM – 1 PM – The CEO Dialogues: Four ideas to take Australia forward

Please note: Numbers are strictly limited. Please select during online booking and registration.

An exciting workshop designed to give BCCM members the opportunity to influence a dialogue with government, business and civil society to reshape Australia in the interests of Australians.

Four facilitated discussions to design four landmark ideas for nation-building and managing risk through co-operation. Delegates are challenged to come up with innovative ideas for working with government, business, the community and members to tackle systemic risks to the Australian economy and people’s wellbeing.

Delegates choose from four boardroom discussions to workshop solutions to:

  • housing affordability,
  • food security and sovereign supply chains,
  • a just energy transition and
  • a sustainable care workforce.

Rapporteurs report back to the Plenary following and delegates vote on the ideas that the BCCM should take forward to Government.

These sessions will be audio recorded to inform policy thoughts after it – the transcript will become the ‘white paper’.
