Barossa Co-op multi-million dollar development approved

31 January 2015

The Barossa Co-ops new $10 million-plus shopping centre is a step closer following State Government development approval.

“It’s great to finally get the go ahead,” The Co-op’s chief executive Graeme Longmuir said. “The size of the project meant it had to go straight to the State Government, but we have had strong support from the Barossa Council and local community so we would have been surprised if it was not approved.

Longmuir also noted the support of Independent Senator Nick Xenophon:

He had also received encouragement and support from Senator Nick Xenophon, who visited The Co-op in September, local Member for Schubert Stephan Knoll and a number of other State MPs from both sides of Parliament.

The Co-op in Barossa is Australia’s largest member-owned retailer and featured in BCCM’s Sticky Money Research in November 2014.
