NENA short course: Building a wellbeing economy: Foundations for learning and practice

This is an externally held course that includes co-operative related topics and facilitators.

NENA and the Yunus Centre are pleased to be offering its 8-week “Building a Wellbeing Economy” professional development course again in 2022.

• 19 April to 7 June 2022
• 8 week course – live classes Tuesday nights, from 4pm to 6pm AEST
• Cost per person
  • $495 (plus GST) – per person, for corporates, government and large not-for-profit organisations
  • $295 (plus GST) – per person, for small not-for-profits and grassroots community organisations

What to expect

• An introduction to wellbeing and new economies concepts, principles and practices
• Practice based learning that you can apply to your own context
• Collaboration and reflection with a cohort of passionate people committed to building a new economy

• 19 April 2022: Different schools of economic thought – neoclassical economics, steady state/ecological economics, Indigenous economics, doughnut economics
• 26 April 2022: Social justice, decolonisation, equity and law
• 3 May 2022: Ownership, property and the commons
• 10 May 2022: Work – including universal basic income & workers cooperatives
• 17 May 2022: Housing – affordability, availability, sustainability
• 24 May 2022: Energy – fossil fuels, renewable, demand and efficiency
• 31 May 2022: Food – systems change and sustainable agriculture
• 7 June 2022: Creating systems change + conclusions and course wrap up

Course details

This course will offer a 2 hour ‘live’ class each week, for 8 weeks on a Tuesday night, from 4pm-6pm AEST (starting Tues 19 April and finishing Tuesday 7 June 2022).

Each class will include a number of expert speakers, with discussions facilitated by the course hosts.

Participants will be provided with 30-60 minutes of reading, viewing and listening material, to help you prepare for each week’s class. Watching and reading the set materials will be essential in order to maximise your learning in the live classes.

Practical case studies and examples will be discussed each week, to enable participants to connect theory with practice.
