Manufacturers warn thousands of jobs at risk unless gas held back from export

Wholesale gas prices spiked last week with disastrous impacts for business and households. Our members are among the Australian manufacturing businesses caught out as BCCM CEO Melina Morrison highlighted last week in media coverage of this issue.

“South Australia’s Master Butchers Co-operative – with its 450 independent butcher members – has seen gas costs at its Wingfield plant in Adelaide move from $135,000 per month to more than $900,000 a month in the last few months,” Morrison said.
