24 September 2025

Common Equity Housing Limited (CEHL) CEO Liz Thomas highlights co-operative housing as a solution to Australia’s housing crisis.

Speaking on ABC Goulburn radio on Wednesday, 24 September 2025, CEHL CEO Liz Thomas explained how rental housing co-operatives keep homes affordable by capping rent at 25 per cent of household income, while also giving tenants long-term security and a voice in managing their properties. She called for co-operatives to make up 10 per cent of community housing nationwide, a model already proving successful in Victoria and internationally.
