Congratulations to these outstanding people on being recognised in the King’s Birthday 2026 Honours List. Your service and achievements shine a light on the co-operative and mutual sector:
Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the general division
- Ms Patricia Ann Turner AM, for distinguished service to the Indigenous community through policy development, to governance and leaderships roles, and to improving health outcomes. Ms Turner is Chief Executive Officer at National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation since 2016.
Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the general division
- Dr Michael John Adams, for significant service to Indigenous health and education. Dr Adams was General Manager at Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation, from 1997–1999 and Chairperson at National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, from 2007–2009.
- Mr Robert Dawson Petie, for significant service to industrial relations, corporate governance, and the community. Mr Petie was a Director at Qudos Bank, from 2019–2022.
- Mr James Allan Walker, for significant service to the mining sector, to history preservation organisations, and to the community. Mr Walker is Councillor and Director at The Royal Automobile Club of WA since 2019, and has served as Non-Executive Chair at RACWA Holdings (current), Deputy Non-Executive Chair in 2018 and Director since 2013, and as Chair at RAC Insurance Pty Ltd and RAC Finance Ltd.
Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the general division
- Mr Roderick James Cooke, for service to the community through a range of organisations. Mr Cooke was Chief Executive Officer at Orana Education and Training Co-operative, from 2002–2005.
- Mr Michael Timothy Kelly, for service to the community of Corowa. Mr Kelly was Manager at Southern Riverina Rural Co-operative Limited, from 1967–2001.
- Mr Graeme Lindsay Stockton, for service to conservation and the environment. Mr Stockton was a Director at Wholefoods Co-operative Limited, from 1988–1991.
- Dr Peter Richard Henderson, for service to obstetrics and gynaecology. Dr Henderson was General Manager, Medical Advisory Services and Deputy Chief Medical Officer at Avant Mutual (formerly United Medical Protection), from 2016–2022 and Claims Manager and Medical Advisor from 2004–2016.
- Mr Robert James Smith, for service to the community through emergency response welfare organisations. Mr Smith was Chair at Firefighters Mutual Bank (formerly Fire Brigades Employees Credit Union, now part of Teachers Mutual Bank Limited), from 2001–2008, Director from 1988–2008 and Patron in 2015.
- Mr Michael John Crosbie, for service to the community of Sunshine. Mr Crosbie served as Treasurer for 20 years, Secretary for 20 years, Financial Advisor for 10 years and Advocate for people with financial difficulties for 10 years at Sunshine Credit Union (amalgamated with Railway Credit Union, now part of MOVE Bank), and was Co-Founder in 1975.
- Lt. Col Kevin Anthony Maloney (Retd), for service to rugby union, and to the community. Lt Col Maloney was Former Assistant General Manager at Defence Force Credit Union (now Defence Bank).
