CSI Blog: Community Investment

14 January 2014

The Centre for Social Impact has featured a blog post from Alan Greig of the Employee Ownership Association, addressing the ongoing debate about creating a capital market for social enterprises.

“Community investment around the world is proving to be an excellent way of financing enterprises that serve a community purpose.

Community investment is the practice of communities themselves investing capital in business ventures serving a social or community purpose. It is not a new phenomenon, but the role that the “retail investor” could play in social investment is something that is being overlooked in the impact investing debate in Australia.”
