BCCM report reveals governments inconsistency in business support

12 June 2015

As part of the BCCM’s work and stated in the Council’s Blueprint for an enterprising nation, the BCCM is committed to ensuring that business support is provided to the co-operative and mutual sector by governments across the country. Key to this, is to ensure the level of funding provided by federal or state government for other forms of business is equal for the co-operative and mutual sector.

In light of this, the BCCM commissioned a report to assess the levels of inclusion on information about co-operatives on government websites relating to business development. The report also studied the level of inclusion of co-operatives in the criteria for funding programs for business development.

Looking at all states and territories, the report, gives a breakdown of the level of inclusion of the sector in each governments’ websites and includes six recommendations, noting that the inclusion of information about co-operatives is inconsistent.
