BCCM welcomes new Board appointees for 2021

The Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals (BCCM) has announced the board composition for 2021.

Four directors were elected at BCCM’s 2020 Annual General Meeting:

  • Linda Bostock – elected as Director
  • David Carter – elected as Director
  • Peter Lock – elected as Director
  • Sheena Jack – re-elected as Director

BCCM CEO Melina Morrison said she was confident in the BCCM’s bright future given the high calibre of the directors and senior representation of different industrial sectors, geographies, and professional backgrounds.

“I congratulate elected members of the board on their appointments and thank all directors for their ongoing commitment to BCCM,” she said.

Continuing Chair of BCCM Terry Agnew said, “Our work to build a common voice for Australia’s co-operative and mutual businesses continues to progress well. This remains critical to members in 2021 as the economy is rebuilt and strengthened as we recover from COVID-19. The resilience and purpose of co-operative and mutual organisations will ensure that they play a key part in Australia’s economic rebuild.”

Continuing in their existing terms as BCCM Directors are David Fraser (Group CEO, Capricorn Society), Julie Lander (CEO, CareSuper), Paul Lewis (CEO, CUA), Rohan Mead (Group MD & CEO, Australian Unity) and Jimmy Wilson (CEO, CBH Group).

About the elected directors

Linda Bostock (MBA, GAICD, ANZIIF (ASSOC), CIP)
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, StateCover Mutual
Linda has over 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry in a range of director, executive and operational management roles, specializing in workers compensation and work health and safety. Linda joined StateCover Mutual Limited in 2010 and is the Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director. Prior to joining StateCover, Linda was the national claims and underwriting manager, across the privately underwritten jurisdictions, for one of the world’s largest general insurers. Linda is also a current non-executive director of an industry owned health, safety and insurance scheme.

David Carter (B.Com, FCPA, FFinsia, G.Dip Fin Planning, G.Dip
Applied Finance and Investments, GAICD) Group Chief Executive Officer, RACQ
David commenced as Group Chief Executive of RACQ in 2020. He is a director of Australian Automobile Association, Australian Motoring Services Pty Ltd as well as several RACQ group entities. He also serves as a director of the Queensland Ballet and Netball Queensland. David joined RACQ in March 2020 from Suncorp where he was the senior executive accountable for the activities of an APRA regulated Bank and an APRA regulated Superannuation entity. He has previously fulfilled the role of Managing Director and CEO of a prudentially regulated Life Insurance company in New Zealand and held the role of director of Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) entities in Australia. Additionally, David has served as a board or committee member of industry associations in Australia and New Zealand for over a decade.

Peter Lock (MBA, BBus, GradDipAppFin, SF FIN, GAICD)
Chief Executive Officer, Heritage Bank
Peter has more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry spanning insurance, institutional banking, business development, business banking and corporate banking. He has held senior management roles at the Bank of Melbourne, St George Bank, and the Commonwealth Bank, following a career with the National Australia Bank. He has also run his own corporate advisory firm. He has a keen interest in leadership and community, and has been part of numerous capacity-building committees in a mentoring capacity.

Sheena Jack (BA (Acc), CA, GAICD)
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, HCF
Sheena was appointed Chief Executive Officer of HCF in August 2017 and Managing Director in September 2017. Prior to this appointment she served as Chief Financial Officer from 2006 and Chief Strategy Officer from 2014. Sheena has more than 30 years’ experience as a finance professional and corporate executive across various industries including health and life insurance, banking, superannuation and wealth management. She is also a non-executive director of Private Healthcare Australia and a member of Chief Executive Women.
