BCCM members and their guests were in attendance this week at the first of the Council’s business development roundtables, with business breakfast events in Sydney and Perth to present BCCM member The Co-op’s Future Leaders Index – recent research into the 18-29 demographic.

The Future Leaders Index Business Breakfasts featured an executive briefing by The Co-op on its 2013 landmark Future Leaders Research, with introductions from the BCCM members RAC WA in Perth and NRMA in Sydney.

The research was presented by The Co-op Chief marketing Officer Greg Smith, and is available for download.

You can view the below White Papers on the research here on The Co-op’s website.

• Co-op Future Leaders Index White Paper 2: Lifestyle & Technology, August 2013

• Co-op Future Leaders Index White Paper 3: Education, Income & the Future of Australia, Oct 2013

Some of the insights provided by the research included:

• 94% of Future Leaders still plan to buy a house or apartment, within an average of 5.5 years’ time (average age of those being surveyed 22.5 years)

• 86% plan on having a family in approximately eight years following university graduation (average age of those being surveyed 22.5 years)

• 6% of monthly income is spent on transport expenses, 21% on living expenses and only 5% on socialising expenses

• Over 40% are staying on at university due to low job prospects

• 67% are apathetic about politics and 44% believe that the political parties are so similar that it doesn’t really matter who wins (the recent Federal election)

Ahead of the Curve Business Development CEO Roundtable Program 2013/2014 is a series of forums from the BCCM designed to provide opportunities for business leaders to network and to share best practice and collaborative solutions to meet the challenges of doing business. The forums are open to BCCM Members and their guests.
