WA CMEs join forces to launch road safety campaign

07 November 2016

Two leading WA co-operative and mutual enterprises (CMEs), CBH Group and RAC WA, have joined forces to launch an integrated road safety campaign to remind growers, grain carters and those sharing the road about the importance of driving safely during the busy harvest season.

The CMEs have partnered with professional boxer Danny Green and the campaign includes social media videos, as well an education campaign with RAC.

CBH Group General Manager of Operations, David Capper, said road safety was an important factor in ensuring a successful harvest.

“Harvest is a busy time on the roads and it impacts a range of people from growers delivering grain to CBH sites to members of regional communities,” Mr Capper said.

“We’re pleased to have established these strong partnerships to help raise awareness of some of these issues and reduce the risk of accidents.”

RAC General Manager Corporate Affairs, Will Golsby, said the partnership provides another opportunity to build on RAC’s existing Elephant in the Wheatbelt campaign and will help to deliver road safety messages to local residents and seasonal workers during harvest.

“We’ve had a tragic year so far on our roads WA-wide, with a staggering 62% of fatal crashes occurring regionally and the Wheatbelt having already lost more lives on the road this year than the whole of last year,” Mr Golsby said.
