Thank you, Elizabeth, all at RACQ and the BCCM for recognising me in this way. I am truly humbled.
I suspect that like many others, until I became actively involved with a mutual, in my case, RACQ, I didn’t have a real understanding of, and appreciation for, the important role mutuals play in our business community and indeed the Australian economy.
There is something very special about being part of a “for purpose” entity and knowing that our real reason for being is to serve our members. I had the opportunity to meet so many of our members over the years and hear first-hand what their Club really means to them and those will be memories I’ll always carry with me.
I have also thoroughly enjoyed the interaction with other clubs around Australia and have appreciated the camaraderie and support as they all worked towards their individual goals.
It’s been an absolute honour and pleasure to serve the members of RACQ as a director and also as President and Chair and to have been a part of RACQ’s journey over the past 13 years. I’ve loved every moment of it. I have had the opportunity to work alongside the most committed directors, management and staff who truly believe in our purpose and live the values of the organisation every day.
Thank you again for allowing me to join the wonderful list of past leaders in the mutuals sectors on the Honour Roll. I wish RACQ, all other mutuals and the BCCM all the very best for the future as you continue on your paths to add value in this often-challenging world we all live in!
