Workshop Webinar #2 – Resilience, transition, transformation
Are co-ops and mutuals uniquely placed to contribute to and benefit from sustainability, strengthening their stakeholder relationships and delivering good environmental and social outcomes?
This workshop will cover how to develop a sustainability strategy, building on the strong foundations of mutual ownership and the longer-term perspective and insights it offers into the firm’s interdependence with key stakeholders. The co-operative and mutual movement may have an advantage with its member-owned business model – but is that sufficient in the face of growing domestic and global challenges?
About Colin Melvin
Colin Melvin, one of the “Fathers of ESG”, will bring his expertise to share with the group together with a discussion. Colin is no stranger to the world of co-operatives and mutuals, having previously engaged with the BCCM’s membership and assisted financial services mutuals, as a strategy consultant. He has worked within the asset management sector for nearly 30 years and is the founder and MD of Arkadiko Partners, the leading strategy consultancy focussed on sustainable investment and stewardship. He is a former Chair of the UN Principles for Responsible Investment, former Non-Executive Chair of InfluenceMap and Advisory Council Member at The Inclusive Capitalism Programme on Purposeful Ownership, Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Colin is also an External Lecturer at Bayes Business School, Copenhagen Business School and Oxford Saïd Business School. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and the Royal Society of Arts and a former Business Mentor at the Prince’s Trust.
