Wales backs co-ops for job creation

The Welsh Government has launched a commission tasked with examining how the co-op sector can create jobs, build wealth and improve services.

In Wales, co-operatives generate more than £1 billion in income a year and employ an estimated 7000 people (2010 figures). Eight of Wales’ co-operatives, which have a combined turnover of more than £165 million, feature in the UK’s top 100 co-operatives by turnover.
