CBH Group makes donation those affected by fires in SA

09 December 2015

The CBH Group has made a $10,000 donation to the South Australian State Emergency Relief Fund which supports those directly affected by the recent Pinery Fire.

The CBH Group General Manager of Marketing and Trading, Jason Craig says that the fires in South Australia mirror those that have occurred in Esperance, Western Australia with devastating destruction to agricultural farmland and the tragic loss of lives.

“As an accumulator of grain across South Australia with staff who live and work in these rural communities, we are extremely saddened by the impact these fires have had on growers and their communities” said Mr Craig.

“We wanted to provide some support and the independently administered South Australian State Emergency Relief Fund is a fantastic avenue in which we can do this.”

CBH, a BCCM member, will also be setting up a pro-rata account where CBH will donate $0.20 for each tonne bought from growers, similar to the pro-rata sponsorship CBH provides to local football clubs.

Chair of the independent State Emergency Relief Fund Committee, Joe Ullianich, thanked CBH for its generous donation.

Mr Ullianich said that the SERF Committee would assess the impacts of the fire over coming weeks, which will guide how the funds are distributed.
