BCCM participates in flood disaster roundtable

07 March 2022

On Friday, 4 March, BCCM CEO Melina Morrison travelled to Canberra to participate in a flood disaster roundtable with Senator Bridget McKenzie. Here she reported on the impacts to affected co-operatives and mutuals, and outlined how BCCM members in flood-impacted regions are problem-solving and responding to the disaster with local knowledge and solutions. The group also discussed the urgency farmers are facing in caring for livestock in the aftermath of the flooding. In Lismore alone, there are 50,000 members and 3000 employees of co-ops and mutuals.

We know that the recovery efforts will be ongoing for quite some time, and we are committed to continuing our advocacy work on behalf of co-operatives and mutuals. We want to support co-ops and mutuals in affected regions to activate their local knowledge, relationships and networks to support their devastated communities.
