The Barossa Co-op’s $25 million redevelopment of the retail co-operatives supermarket in Nuriootpa is set to begin in the coming months with the former Mitre 10 Trade building will soon be demolished.
The new supermarket is part of a 10-year strategic plan, which ensures the 70-year-old co-op remains at the heart of Barossa retailing. It is planned to build a new complex in the current parking area outside the Foodland store and in a reverse, eventually make the current store site the Barossa’s first undercover car park.
The co-op chief executive officer Graeme Longmuir said
“The development is part of our commitment to re-invest in the Barossa community and support this region’s growth. In fact, it means employment for over 100 people during construction and over 200 jobs ongoing.”
