BCCM congratulates new Nationals leader – champion of regional Australia

26 February 2018

Business Council of Cooperatives and Mutuals CEO Melina Morrison today congratulated new Nationals leader Michael McCormack.

“Mr McCormack is a champion of regional Australia and has spoken in the past about the importance of small banks in regional communities,” said Ms Morrison.

“He has also been a tireless advocate for Australian ownership of Australian farms, reinvestment in rural communities and helping our farmers gain access to global markets.”

Mr McComack was the keynote speaker for the Government at the BCCM Leaders’ Summit in November.

“We look forward to working with the Nationals’ new leadership team, which includes deputy leader Bridget McKenzie, who is also a strong supporter of co-ops and mutuals in regional Australia.”

Senator McKenzie backs the Farming Together program, supported the Hammond Review, and is co-chair of the Parliamentary Friends of Mutuals and Co-operatives.
